The daily aartis begin with the Kakad Aarti before dawn and end with the Shej Aarti at night; if you wish to attend a specific aarti, book the pass first and then fix your departure time from Aurangabad. Queues are longest on Thursdays, weekends, and during festivals such as Ram Navami, Guru Purnima and Vijayadashami, when Sai Baba’s Punyatithi is observed.

Places to Visit in Shirdi

• Samadhi Mandir: the main shrine with Sai Baba’s samadhi.
• Dwarkamai: the old mosque where Sai Baba lived, with the sacred dhuni.
• Chavadi: where Sai Baba slept on alternate nights.
• Gurusthan: the neem tree where he was first seen as a young man.

All of these are within walking distance of each other in the temple complex area, so the driver will park once and wait while you complete your visit.

Adding Shani Shingnapur

Shani Shingnapur is about 70 km from Shirdi and is famous for its open-air Shani idol and for the tradition of houses without doors. Adding it turns the trip into a full day. The usual order from Aurangabad is Shirdi first for morning darshan, then Shani Shingnapur in the afternoon, then back to the city in the evening, though the reverse order also works. Temple customs and rules about access to the platform have changed in recent years, so follow the guidance at the temple on the day.

State transport and private buses run between Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and Shirdi, and they are the cheapest option for a single traveller with little luggage. In the monsoon, roads remain open but travel can be slower in heavy rain, so allow extra time and carry an umbrella. Winter mornings are cool, and a light shawl is useful for the Kakad Aarti.
